BeKreative is a production company and creative collective founded by Melisa Ramos, dedicated to developing talent and building artistic community through collaboration. The company partners with organizations, cultural institutions, and artists to produce meaningful content that reflects the stories and experiences of their communities.

Working across New York City, the East Coast, and the Caribbean, BeKreative collaborates with diverse creators whose cultural perspectives enrich every stage of the production process.

Our work spans documentary, animation, experimental media, and fashion-based visual storytelling. In addition to production, BeKreative is committed to education, offering training, workshops, and classes in production and post-production for individuals and groups.

BeKreative’s first documentary television series, “From Performers to Spectators: COVID-19 NYC,” aired on PBS.

Our Team

Melisa Ramos

Melisa Ramos is a post-production artist and film professor who has been working in New York City for 11 years. She is a film professor having taught at institutions like Pratt Institute and NY City College of Technology.

Her first production was a docu-series for CUNY TV documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which exposed her to the need for sharing Puerto Rican and Latin American stories. In 2020, during the pandemic, she produced and directed a docu series highlighting NYC performers and their journeys through the lockdown. This series, From Performers to Spectators, was her first independent production, picked up by PBS and the All Arts Channel.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Director Miguel Miller’s filmmaking is deeply influenced by the island's rich culture. He has developed a unique ability to bring stories to life, evoking emotion and sparking thought through the power of images. With over 11 years in the industry, Miller has worked on more than 100 projects in a variety of roles, including writer, director, producer, assistant director, and director of photography. His attention to detail, combined with an unconventional approach to storytelling, sets him apart as a filmmaker. Miller has directed the feature documentary Your Real Nature and has created around 10 short films, showcasing his versatility and distinctive voice in the industry.

Miguel Miller

Cionín is a two-time Imagen Award-winning Latina filmmaker from Brooklyn, New York. She has an extensive career in television, starting at MTV Networks where she worked for over 15 years on programming for MTV News & Docs, MTV International, and MTV Latin America. She directed short documentaries on Shakira and worked on MTV Cribs for five years. Later, as Supervising Producer, she led the production of 70 episodes of Teen Cribs. She also served as Senior Production Coordinator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, coordinating TV productions and working with high-profile artists. Recently, she was the story producer for the Imagen Award-winning films Lights, Camera Acción (2022) and John Leguizamo’s Road to Broadway (2019). She is currently directing two feature documentaries and consulting on content related to climate change, disabilities, and the arts.
